A group of people staged a brief demonstration in front of the building of the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala (CIG), located in zone 4 of the capital, where acts of vandalism to the façade of the building were also recorded.
Images spread on social networks showed that protesters placed impaled pig heads on the main entrance gate to the building; In addition, posters were posted with critical messages towards some magistrates of the Constitutional Court and against the rector of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, Walter Mazariegos.
During the protest, messages directed against the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations (Cacif), which were placed at different points of access to the building.
Damage to facade
According to what was observed, the gates and sidewalk of the building were wallpapered with posters, and the main gate was stained with red paint, which was also thrown over several areas of the building.
Those responsible for vandalizing the building did not identify themselves with any group or sector, they only dressed in black and had their faces covered. So far, the identity of the participants has not been confirmed, nor has there been an official position of any group or organization that claims responsibility for the action.
When consulted by this means, the Cacif responded, through his communications office, that they did not have any position or reaction to the attack on the building.
