A new scenario awaits Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, after being elected as a member of the Board of Governors of the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In the search for equity in the representation of the different branches, the Oscar Awards detailed that the branches that make up the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will have three governors elected by its members, including the Mexican one, as representative of the directors.
Among the personalities who are already part of the board and will remain in office are Lou Diamond Phillips, in the actors branch, and Dana Stevens, in the writers branch. Meanwhile, personalities such as Guillermo del Toro, Kris Bowers and Fred Berger join for the first time.
It is known that Guillermo del Toro was elected for a period of one year, during which, together with the other members, he must define the strategy and operation of the Hollywood Academy.
In total, 57 governors were elected and three appointed by the Academy presidency. Media like The Hollywood Reporter They highlight that this group does not make decisions about the award winners, but is in charge of analyzing the internal policies, changes and rules of the Academy.
