Óscar Santis will leave Antigua GFC to continue his career in international football. The Guatemalan winger was announced as a new player for Brunei DPMM FC, a team that competes in the Malaysia Super League.
The confirmation came twice. First it was the player himself who turned to his digital platforms to share a farewell message addressed to the colonial fans. Hours later, the board of directors of Antigua GFC formalized the movement through a press release and clarified that the operation was closed under the transfer modality, due to the contractual link that united the footballer with the institution.
Santis’ new destination will be Brunei DPMM FC, a club that geographically belongs to the Sultanate of Brunei, but that officially competes in the Malaysia Super League, the highest category of soccer in that country.
Gratitude and farewell
The publication shared by the attacker reflects the bond built during his stay at the Pensativo Stadium. Santis took advantage of the space to thank those who were part of his time at the club.
“Today I close a very special stage in my career and say goodbye to Antigua GFC, a club that opened its doors to me and allowed me to grow as a footballer and as a person. Thanks to the board, coaching staff, teammates, administrative staff and everyone who is part of this great institution for their trust, support and affection,” said the national team.
During his time with the Antigüeño team, Santis was part of the team that won the two-time National League championship, an achievement that he recalled in his farewell message.
“I feel proud to have been part of the group that made history by winning the two-time championship, an unforgettable achievement for me and the entire Antigüeña family. Celebrating those titles with the club, my teammates and the fans was a privilege that I will carry with me,” he added.
Institutional support
The Antigua GFC leadership also recognized the contribution of the footballer during his time at the institution. “The club appreciates your professionalism and work carried out at this stage, contributing to the achievement of the two-time sports championship,” the official statement highlighted.
Santis takes on this new challenge with the aim of maintaining the pace of competition in the face of the commitments of the Guatemalan National Team. Although he will play thousands of kilometers from the country, the footballer closed his message with words addressed to the colonial fans: “Antigua GFC will always have a special place in my heart. It is not goodbye, but see you soon. Thank you for everything!”
With the operation already formalized, the player is preparing to join his new club and begin his adaptation process in Southeast Asian football.
