The long-awaited mid-year holidays are about to begin. According to data from the Ministry of Education, both the public and private sectors will enjoy a rest period from Wednesday, June 24, to Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
During these days, students, teachers and administrative staff of educational centers will take advantage of the break to rest, carry out other activities and get out of their routine.
While many surely plan to enjoy the 2026 World Cup matches, which coincide with this vacation period, others are looking for options to go out, see other landscapes and relax.
To do this, it is not necessary to leave the country, as Guatemala has natural destinations, recreational parks, archaeological sites and colonial cities that can be visited during the 2026 mid-year holidays. These are just some of them.
1. La Aurora Zoo
One of the most attractive places is the La Aurora Zoo, which is home to more than 287 species of animals. The facility has restaurants and arcade-type game areas, ideal for enjoying with the family without leaving Guatemala City. Admission prices are Q60 for adults and Q30 for children.
2. IRTRA parks
IRTRA has six theme parks that offer rides, swimming pools, nature, zoos and other entertainment spaces for the whole family.
