Kings Guillermo Alejandro and Máxima celebrate with the Curacao team after the draw against Ecuador in the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has captured the attention not only of football lovers, but also of the world for its musical shows and the appearances of personalities in each match. The confrontation between Curacao and Ecuador was no exception, after King William Alexander and Queen Máxima were captured during the match.

It was on Saturday, June 20, when the Curacao team had a historic participation by drawing 0-0 against Ecuador at the Kansas City Stadium, a result that gave them a point in the table.

Curacao, which made its debut in the World Cup against Germany, where it lost 7-1 to the four-time world champions, achieved a historic draw when facing the second team in Group E. This result led the royalty of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to visit it in the dressing room to celebrate its participation.

Through social networks it was announced that King William was with Queen Máxima and Princess Ariane in Kansas. In the midst of the celebration, the Curaçao players and technical team received a visit from the kings, where even Queen Máxima joined the party dancing.

Curacao, although an autonomous country, is still part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, so it maintains this link with royalty, who joined the celebration as the team continues to fight for a position to advance to the next phase.

It was in the dressing rooms of Arrowhead Stadium where the visit took place. The monarchs shook hands with the coaching staff and, amidst the chorus of “Hey, hey, hey” from the players, they joined the celebration and showed their dance steps.

In the videos you can see queen Máxima Zorreguieta dancing among the players and wearing the blue shirt of the Curacao team, which had her name on the back.

Máxima Zorreguieta put aside the protocols and joined the dance, while the players accompanied her with clapping and chanting. Princess Ariane also shared with the team.

After greeting each member of the team, King William joined the celebration and danced to the rhythm of a song. Media such as Infobae highlight that one of the songs that the royal family danced was Mama Waby Curacao singer Jeon.

During his speech, the king highlighted: “Curaçao, today you got a point! Something like this has never been achieved before by such a small country, so it’s incredible.”

That was part of the message that King William left to the team and that was shared by the Curaçao National Team on Instagram, along with the text: “Speech from the King, and an attempt to get an extra for the players. Well, they tried.”

Prior to their visit, the royal family of the Kingdom of the Netherlands wore the orange shirt to support the Netherlands team, which obtained its first victory 5-1 against Sweden in a match played in Houston.
