This Monday, June 22, family, friends and neighbors said goodbye to Guatemalans Aurelia Choc Cac, 40, and her children Niurka Zuleta Choc, 17, and Anthony Garcia Choc, 2, who were murdered in Alabama, United States, in a case that shocked the Latino community because they remained missing for several days.

According to the Facebook page Transmisiones Jr El Castro, the funeral services and burial took place in the village of El Afán, Ixcán, Quiché, where Aurelia was originally from and from where she migrated to the United States in search of a better future; However, he died violently in that country.

On March 27, Alabama authorities confirmed that the bodies found two weeks earlier in a wooded area of ​​Baldwin County corresponded to Aurelia and her children, Niurka Zuleta and Anthony, who had been reported missing since January.

Forensic and DNA testing confirmed that Aurelia and her two children were murdered in their home in Mobile County, Alabama, and later taken to a wooded area in Baldwin County.

The family was last seen on January 30 at their residence by neighbors, who reported them missing the next day.

The authorities reported that there were no signs of forced entry into the home; However, they found evidence of a fight and traces of blood at the scene.

After confirmation of the family’s death, new details of the case emerged, including that the three victims were stabbed.

A man identified as Héctor Guerra was arrested and charged in connection with the deaths of the Choc family. The suspect faces more than 10 charges, including capital murder, abuse of a corpse and obstruction of justice.
