The little chef will no longer return to the big screen to take the public on a new adventure, despite rumors about the making of a sequel to the successful animated film Ratatouilleafter its director, Brad Bird, refused to take up the story.
The story of a little dreamy rat who lives on the outskirts of Paris and seeks to fulfill his dream of cooking became a success in 2007, when, by chance, he arrived in Paris and met Linguini at Gusteau’s restaurant. However, it will not return to the cinema, despite requests from the public and Pixar.
The acclaimed film, which won the Oscar Award for Best Animated Feature, attracted attention for the narrative of how a rat with culinary skills manages to conquer the kitchen and become living proof of Chef Gusteau’s motto: “Anyone can cook.”
In the midst of Disney’s commitment to producing versions live action of its emblematic films and to boost nostalgia with new sequels, Pixar announced productions such as The Incredibles 3, Zootopia 2 and toy story 5. This sparked rumors about the arrival of Ratatouille 2a fact that Brad Bird denied.
The writer and director of Ratatouille He rejected that possibility and stressed that he has no plans to work on a sequel, despite the interest shown by Pixar executives.
The statements came after actor Patton Oswalt, who voiced the character of Remy, expressed interest in reprising it. In an interview with ColliderBrad Bird responded: “No, I’m not interested,” when referring to the possibility of returning to Ratatouille.
Regarding the interest of Pixar executives, Bird highlighted: “They have made little hints to see how he would react. They usually make jokes, but with a serious touch, like ‘Would you do it?'” However, he reiterated that he will not return to the story.
