“I still have my daughter, I have friends. I just want to say that life goes on.”Glover said.
The actor, who will turn 80 on July 22, responded to the magazine’s questions by “alternating often unfinished thoughts and personal poetic digressions”, according to the publication itself, and confirmed what his daughter Clarisa claims: “I think that sometimes he is conscious and other times he is not.”
Glover revealed on June 30 that he had the disease in Todayfrom the NBC network, with the objective, as explained, of make Alzheimer’s visible and also to convey that he continues to move forward despite the diagnosis.
In an interview with Lester Holt, Glover added: “I can live with it, in a sense. I am sure that as I move forward, things will be different and change,” as quoted by the IMDb site.

The actor himself assures that working with Gibson “was great”. He also dedicated words in the interview to Oprah Winfrey and assured that, with his films, he had had “the opportunity to talk about how I see the world and what role I have played in it. I started acting because I was a citizen. Acting was what gave me a voice.”
Activism has been part of Glover’s career. He received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. and, in the interview with Peoplerecounts some of his experiences.
“I remember when Nelson Mandela came out of prison and we were walking,” he explains of the anti-apartheid South African president, whom he supported and played in a 1987 TV movie. “(Mandela’s wife) Winnie came up and Mandela said, ‘Winnie, there’s your other husband’. “It was funny.”
Glover received an honorary Oscar in 2022 and, shortly after, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Holt said. Since then, his movements, speech and memory have experienced a progressive deterioration.

Despite the diagnosis, the actor stays active and attends events and activities in San Francisco, his hometown.
According to Glover, his family is his main supporter.
“Absolutely. They support me,” he said.
His last job as an actor was playing Santa Claus in the 2023 television movie The Naughty Nine and in the independent films of 2022 American Dreamer and Press Play.
Mandisa Glover, daughter of the actor, explained to People the reasons for revealing the diagnosis.
“I think that It is very important for him to have control over his own narrative, over the story of his life.. The time is now. “What better time than now for him to speak for himself?” he declared.
The Alzheimer’s Association notes that stay physically active, monitor blood pressure and sleepas well as maintaining social ties, can affect the course of the disease.
