At the entrances to the central campus of the University of San Carlos (Usac), in zone 12 of the capital, this Thursday, July 2, a police presence and graffiti were observed on the gates, after the riots on July 1 due to the inauguration of Walter Mazariegos as rector for a second term.
At the entrance through the Peripheral Ring, USAC personnel install steel plates on the main gates.
At the entrance on Petapa Avenue there remains a group of people in favor of Walter Mazariegos.
According to agents of the National Civil Police, another group of people could gather after 11 a.m.
A unit of anti-riot agents is also seen, after the riots recorded on Wednesday.
Through a video, Mazariegos reported that his inauguration for a second term at the head of the Usac was completed, which caused more unrest among the protesters and led to riots.
Mazariegos’ re-election and inauguration have been marked by a series of legal actions that point to alleged irregularities in the election.
