TO Christian Nodal Not only love dramas surround him, but also legal ones. The regional Mexican singer has been involved in various legal proceedings, including some in which his father has been involved.
International media have speculated about a possible legal conflict between the artist and his father, Jaime González, which would have also involved his lawyers.
The controversy arose after public records from the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) came to light, according to which The Christian Nodal brand would have been renewed in the name of his father, Jaime González, valid until 2026.
The singer’s lawyer, Erik Rauda, was consulted about this issue by the Mexican program First-hand; However, he avoided delving into details due to the confidentiality with which the family handles the case.
“I can speak very little about that case. I do not have authorization from the man’s team to make public comments. We are still working on the case, I am still their defender in criminal matters, in the matter they have against Universal, against the record label. He has many other issues and in the other issues he also has other lawyers who are representing him,” he declared.
In addition, he referred to the change in the artist’s legal team and clarified that there was a division, but for reasons of legal strategy.
“I am left exclusively in charge of the defense of Christian Nodal with Universal, some lawyers who are in Guadalajara are left in charge of the defense of Christian Nodal’s parents. We divide the tasks because there are different people who are being accused of the same crime,” he explained.
Nodal and his parents face a legal process because, according to the complaint, they would have used falsified documents to appropriate songs recorded under the label Universal Music.
“The complaint filed with the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Mexico by a record company consists of the accusation that Christian ‘N’ and his family transferred copyright over certain works and, subsequently, claimed to be the owners of what no longer belonged to them,” the authorities detailed in November 2025.
However, the conflict between Nodal and his father would have arisen for other reasons, such as Jaime González’s management of the singer’s career in his early years. as well as alleged differences in the management of income and contracts.
Another hypothesis is that tensions arose after the registration of the “Christian Nodal” trademark with the IMPI, which would grant third parties use rights over the stage name; or, because Nodal would have begun to independently register new stage names as part of a strategy to protect his professional identity.
So far, none of the parties have commented on the matter, so the matter is being developed solely in the legal field.
