The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) confirmed the discovery of the aircraft reported missing on Friday, July 3, after the activation of its Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT).
The DGAC coordinated the inter-institutional search and rescue operation that allowed the aircraft to be located in a mountainous area of the municipality of San Miguel Pochuta, Chimaltenango, about 2,500 meters above sea level.
The area where the aircraft is located presents difficult access conditions, according to official information.
The DGAC maintains coordination with the Guatemalan Air Force to execute the access plan to the site.
He added that the objective is to establish the exact coordinates and collect official information about the people on board, the aircraft and the circumstances of the accident.
The Air Rescue Section of the Volunteer Firefighters located the damaged aircraft with registration TG-PIP in the vicinity of the Unión Victoria village, municipality of San Miguel Pochuta, Chimaltenango.
Rescue teams continue in the area and carry out the necessary actions to descend to the aircraft and determine the health status of its occupants.
