Judith Vargas, sister-in-law of Manuel Baldizón, faces trial for the Odebrecht case

Before the High Risk Court A, this Monday, July 6, Judith Celina Vargas Monroy appears to face trial for the crime of illicit association within the Odebrecht case.

Vargas Monroy is the sister-in-law of Manuel Baldizón and faces debate for her alleged participation in a structure that would have received bribes from the Brazilian construction company Norberto Odebrecht.

The investigation indicates that these bribes were paid in exchange for the awarding of contracts for the construction of roads in the country and that, together with other people, he would have created several companies to collect funds from these bribes.

The Public Ministry indicates that Vargas Monroy was supposedly in charge of managing, coordinating and recruiting people who provided their labor services.

According to the investigation, he conditioned them to appear as legal representatives of the entities allegedly used by Manuel Antonio Baldizón.

During this Monday’s hearing, some witnesses testified before the court, including a man who was hired as an accounting assistant. Subsequently, he was made to sign a charter for a company of which he was appointed legal representative, according to the investigation.
