Benny Ibarra is a Mexican musician, singer, producer, composer, arranger and actor. He has captivated several generations with his performances.
With hits considered Latin American pop anthems, such as Without you, Heaven, Mine, It rains light, Inspiration and silly heartamong others, Benny waited more than a decade to publish unpublished material. In 2025 it launched Born once againan album with six songs with which he showed that time has only deepened his talent and passion for music.
With a more mature sound, Benny shows that the honesty of his music has always been intertwined with his soul and his love for art. This was confirmed on June 12 with the publication of Born once again liverecorded at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City, during a night in which music reconnected him with his audience.
With the studio and live versions, Benny is currently promoting a tour with which he seeks to transcend borders and return to Guatemala.
Recently, the Mexican musician spoke with Free press and, during an interview, he gave details of his current musical stage and what his admirers will hear at the concert he will offer in the country.
“How powerful music is. The truth is that that was always my dream, to be able to make songs that transcend borders, ages, generations, even languages,” said Ibarra.
“I feel that I have been fortunate for 45 years to be on this journey, to have been born into a family that instilled it in me beautifully, that taught me to do this with passion, with seriousness, with professionalism and also with responsibility. Because I am fortunate in a complicated career, where the rules change every third day,” Ibarra added.
According to Benny, his current career is a reflection of everything he has learned, as well as the work, patience and dedication he has put into each production.
“It is a very complicated race, but I understood, from a very young age, that it was not a 100-meter race, that it was a marathon, that I had to be very patient and that my bet would be on my growth,” he said.
“I think that, album after album, although it is my own essence, there is always progress. I always feel that I improve a little with the different tools. I do feel that, for example, I am singing as I would always have loved to sing, that I am finally finding control of my tool, of my body, of my throat. The same thing happens when playing the guitar and that is the idea: as we grow, to mature and perfect, above all, without losing the spark,” he said.
Benny will perform in Guatemala on July 10, in the Gran Sala Efraín Recinos of the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center, where he will offer a musical evening in a special format that will cover the different stages of his career.
According to the Mexican singer and composer, the show will be very theatrical and moving.
“The concert in Guatemala will be divided into different sections and that for me makes it very artistic, very theatrical, and it allows me, as the concert goes on, to take people by the hand, little by little. Yes, it is a show, maybe, like those tasting menus with several appetizers, where you see the menu and say: ‘There are 10 dishes, at what point am I going to eat them?’. But in the end it is an experience, another type of show, and I think we have already worked hard to make it very moving and exciting,” he pointed out.
Reunion with a special setting
For Benny, the cultural venue where he will offer the concert brings back fond memories, so he promises a special night.
“I think it is the perfect place for this show, for this return of Benny to Guatemala as a soloist, that theater that I know. There I had the opportunity to participate in a Telethon and in the Miss Guatemala contest. Two or three times I have had the fortune of being on that stage. But now, for the Guatemalans to lend it to me to bring them what I have been doing throughout my career. It is a moment of communion and a moment of great sincerity, of dedication on my part and, obviously, I sense that people go to be very receptive. In addition, I hope that people come and have a good time, but, beyond that, that it is an experience that transforms and that they leave the experience. show wanting to love in a different way, to live intensely and with more desire alongside their partner, their children and their family; “Let it be a useful musical evening,” Ibarra concluded.
Benny Ibarra is convinced that making transparent music has allowed him to connect with his fans and that, in Guatemala, he will share his stories and messages with all those who are willing to open their hearts.
