The controversy left by the match between Argentina and Egypt reached a point where on July 7 the African team filed a complaint with FIFA, accusing the referee of the match of making questionable decisions.
According to the sports media ACEthe Egyptian Football Federation filed an official complaint against French referee François Letexier and his assistants for their refereeing decisions.
The complaint was filed, according to ACEby the president of the Egyptian Federation Association, Hany Abo Rida, who asked FIFA for explanations for decisions such as the goal disallowed against Egypt in the 59th minute and the alleged penalty not sanctioned in added time.
ACE He states that in the complaint the federation requests that the refereeing decisions be investigated, mainly those that affected Egypt during the match.
Furthermore, the complaint requests the exclusion of the French referee and the rest of his team from the World Cup, since, according to the complaint, the controversies surrounding the refereeing body have been constant.
FIFA has not yet commented on the complaint. The complaint was filed after Egypt coach Hossam Hassam was highly critical of the refereeing of the match against Argentina.
“The result was influenced by internal factors on the field of play and during the match and by external factors prior to the match,” Hassam began by saying in the post-match press conference.
“There seemed to have been pressure from Argentina on the referee, which led to this outcome; we had expressed our objections to said referee,” added the Egyptian coach.
