The Agency for the Promotion of Tourism of Central America (CATA, for its acronym in English), has announced that, as of July 13, 2026, TAG Airlines will incorporate a new direct air route between Guatemala and El Salvadorexpanding connectivity options between both countries.
The journey will last approximately 50 minutes.
The flights will operate between La Aurora International Airportin Guatemala City, and the El Salvador San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport.
The regular ticket price round trip will be approximately US$350although the rate may vary depending on the season, availability and how far in advance the purchase is made.
How many weekly flights will the new route have?
The airline announced that the new connection will have four weekly flightsdistributed as follows:
Guatemala – El Salvador
- Monday: 9.05 hours.
- Wednesday: 9.45 hours.
- Friday: 9:05 and 20:20 hours.
El Salvador – Guatemala
- Monday: 10.35 am.
- Wednesday: 11:15 a.m.
- Friday: 10:35 and 9:50 p.m.
Avianca also connects Guatemala and El Salvador
With this addition, TAG Airlines adds to the existing offering of Aviancawhich currently operates daily flights between both countries.

Guatemala – El Salvador
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday: 5:25, 3:45 and 8:15 p.m.
- Tuesday: 5.25, 10 and 20.15 hours.
- Thursday and Saturday: 5.25 and 10 hours.
El Salvador – Guatemala
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8:15 a.m., 5:40 p.m. and 10:20 p.m.
- Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 8:15 and 22:20 hours.
How much will the tickets cost?
As part of the launch of the new route, TAG Airlines maintains a Promotion valid until July 31with rates from US$199 for the round trip, subject to availability and conditions of the airline.
