Death threats? Which Norway player was bullied after being eliminated from the World Cup by England

The Norwegian team had a bitter farewell after being eliminated by England with a score of 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup.

Erling Haaland’s team was emerging as one of the favorites not only to advance in the competition, but also to become champions, since from the beginning it showed a good performance, which remained firm in the group stage, the round of 32 and the round of 16.

However, the Norwegians were unable to turn the score around and were left out of the competition.

The Nordics did not lack chances, and one of the clearest came from the player Alexander Sorloth, who starred in a key play against the English, but decided to finish during a counterattack instead of passing the ball to his teammate Erling Haaland.

After the match, the Norwegian player expressed his disappointment at being left out of the World Cup and, according to Infobaesaid he wishes he had done things better.

“I know that new opportunities will arise, but of course, it is hard when it comes to the most important stage and we are fighting to reach the semifinals of the World Cup,” he quoted Infobae Sorloth’s statements.

The situation could have stayed there, but the player’s wife, Lena Selnes, publicly denounced that users on social networks began to threaten to kill both the Norwegian player and her and her children.

“The World Cup and football bring a lot of joy, but they also generate a lot of hate. I hope everyone thinks twice before making comments like that,” Selnes wrote on his social networks.

Infobae indicated that some of the messages that Sorloth’s wife collected were: “Be nice and kill yourself, idiot”, “we are going to kill him” and hate messages against his children.

Lena Selnes assured that she will initiate legal action against the accounts that wrote those comments; However, the media claims that the number of threats already exceeds 100,000.

This sparked a reaction from various sporting sectors, including Norway coach Stale Solbakken, who said it was a tragic situation.

“This is the world we live in, and emotions run high. That’s why it’s tragic. There’s nothing more to say,” said the Norwegian coach.
