As if it were a function similar to Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp will incorporate group video calls into its web version.
On its blog, Meta announced an update that will allow you to make video calls from WhatsApp Web, without having to download the application on your computer.
This update comes after the announcement about account development using usernames. With it, users will be able to make video calls from desktop computers, laptops or combined with the telephone.
As reported by WhatsApp on its blog, video calls will remain private and simple, with the aim of facilitating communication. They can be done individually or in groups from WhatsApp Web.
The company indicated that this function seeks to support users whose workplaces do not allow downloading applications or who prefer to use the browser.
From WhatsApp Web it will be possible to share the screen, send reactions and access an exclusive call tab with history. In addition, video calls will have no time limit or cost, according to the company.
Likewise, the update will allow a call to be transferred between a cell phone and a computer, or vice versa, without having to interrupt communication.
The function seeks to expand the use of WhatsApp for work meetings, studies or social activities. It will also incorporate a waiting room that will allow the call creator to control who can enter.
“When you create a WhatsApp call link with the ‘Require approval to join’ option enabled, participants will enter a waiting room until you are ready for them to join,” the blog highlights.
Among the new features is also QuickHD, a function that will allow you to make video calls in high definition, as well as a noise cancellation system that will facilitate clearer communication between participants.
The new feature will be implemented gradually in different countries.
