The Judge of Municipal Affairs of Cantel, Quetzaltenango, imposed a sanction of Q500 thousand to the owners of the House of Holy Death for not having the corresponding permission and for continuing with the work despite the previous warnings of the commune so that they did not continue with the project.

Given this, the owners appealed the judge’s resolution, since they seek not to pay the fine; However, the last word is the municipal council, which must resolve the case.

The mayor of Cantel, Allán Cabrera, said that, so far, the case has not been known in the council session, although it is expected that in the next few days the debate on the subject will begin.

The house in question is located next to the Cantel rehabilitation farm, in the Llanos de Urbina community. The rejection of its construction began in October last year, because in that place the holy death is venerated.
