Iván Carpio presented his resignation as secretary of the Ministry of Administrative Affairs and Security of the Presidency (SAAS).
The resignation was accepted by President Bernardo Arévalo and became an effect as of Tuesday, April 15.
The reasons for Carpio’s resignation are still unknown.

The SAAS was created in 2000 as part of the fulfillment of peace agreements, specifically the strengthening of civil power and the function of the army in a democratic society, according to its website.
