A fire of great proportions was recorded at dawn on Wednesday, April 16 in a building located on Los Próceres Boulevard and 16 Avenue in Zone 10, in the section towards the West.
Amílcar Montejo, road spokesman for the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT), reported that the fire occurred in a property where they stored wood.
He added that, to expedite the work of firefighters, PMT agents made traffic deviations from the boulevard to diagonal 6 and 19 street.
Óscar Sánchez, spokesman for the volunteer firefighters, informed that after two hours of hard work controlled the fire in the area where the wood was.
He said they used about 50 thousand gallons of water to control the incident and prevent the flames from extending to surrounding commercial premises.
He indicated that losses from the fire have not been estimated, but it is presumed that they are millionaire.
No people with burns were reported.
The municipal firefighters indicated that they used seven motobombs and other equipment to turn off the fire. In addition, they used high pressure hoses to prevent the fire from spreading.
