A minor who suffered burns in his eyes after a woman threw hot water with lime in Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez, could lose his sight, according to the medical diagnosis revealed this Friday, February 28.
The aggression against the baby and her mother occurred on Tuesday, February 25 at 3rd. Avenida de la Colonia Independencia, in Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez, while the victims passed in front of the residence of the aggressor, according to residents of the sector.
One of the settlers who witnessed the aggression explained that the child and her mother passed through a woman’s house when she threw hot water with lime.
The attacker was identified as María Elena Pérez and, according to neighbors, she has repeatedly assaulted children in front of her house.
Marina Sest, mother of the affected girl, said that her daughter is in the intensive because of the aggression and at risk of losing her sight.
“The lady was there and began to insult, but I ignored her. I crossed because my baby gets happy to see her baby, but when I felt it threw me the lime and the one that was most affected was my baby and now she is in the hospital in the intensive one, ”SEMET said.
For his part, Érick Monterroso, of the Mazatenango National Hospital, said that the child has eyes problems and was admitted to intensive care.
“In the diagnosis he presented clinical burns in neck and eyes,” Monterroso said.
The locals remember that 15 days ago the woman hit another minor, but the parents of that child did not put the complaint.
Now the family of the affected baby requires the authorities to do justice, since the child is in a hospital and runs the risk of losing his eyes.
Neighbors fear more aggressions, because two blocks from the woman’s house works a school and children usually walk on that street.
