The processional tour of the consecrated image of Jesús Nazareno de la Justicia, of the parish of Our Lady of Remedies, Temple El Calvario, next Wednesday, March 5, will mark the prelude to Lent in Guatemala.
The Jacaranda leaves, the purple costumes of the cucuruchos and the processions announce the beginning of the time in which the passion, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ are commemorated.
As is tradition, this procession is carried out on Ash Wednesday since its first tour in 1956..
The image of Jesús Nazareno de la Justicia is originally from the old chapel of the Franciscan tertiary, located in the 6th street of Zone 1, where the parking lot of the Ministry of the Interior is currently, as detailed by the Cucuruchos Guatemala portal. There he remained provisionally until the ecclesiastical authorities transferred her to the old Calvary, at the end of Calle Real.
Through a message, the faithful were invited to participate in the tour with the phrase:
“This Wednesday, March 5, let’s start the Lent’s path together with a day of reflection, prayer and penance,” after the celebration of the holy Eucharist with an ash imposition.
According to data on the official website of the El Calvario parish, the procession is planned to start around 4 pm and travel six reference points where the faithful will be able to wait for the processional step. The procession will end at 10.30 pm in the temple.

On March 5, the solemn processional courtship of the Sweet Meeting of Our Lady Dolorosa Franciscan will also be held with the consecrated image of Jesus Nazareno de la Justicia.
