This Friday, the Plenary of Magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) was integrated again, as confirmed by the substitute magistrate Marco Antonio Cornejo.
The magistrates celebrated a Plenary session after last January the electoral body had remained inactive. All for a dispute because of the way in which the presidency of the TSE continued with the Magistrate Blanca Alfaro.
The substitutes sent a communication to Alfaro last week requesting a meeting, but for the reasons of agenda the headline could not participate, but proposed that the meeting be this Friday, April 11.
At the meeting, the alternate magistrates agreed to accept the acting presidency of Alfaro and resume the electoral agenda that had remained inactive for four months, according to Cornejo.
The substitute added that they accepted the presidency of Alfaro, which will resume the administrative and electoral decisions of the TSE, but indicated that they are still waiting for the Courts to resolve the legal actions that were presented in their opportunity.
The Togada concluded her mandate as president of the TSE in January, but the next magistrate to assume the presidency, Gabriel Aguilera, could not do so, because she remains suspended by a judicial resolution that separated him from the position by the criminal process of the TREP case.
Alfaro issued a document taking the acting presidency until Aguilera resumes his functions, for being the only active holder, but that procedure caused doubts among the substitutes, which according to Cornejo, was resolved in the plenary meeting, allowing to resume the activities.
The title magistrates of the TSE Gabriel Aguilera, Irma Palencia, Rafael Rojas and Mynor Franco, face a criminal process for apparent irregularities in the purchase of the TREP computer system, the tool used for the projection of the preliminary results of the 2023 elections.
