This May 13 is celebrated on the day of the Virgin of Fatima Internationally, one of the most significant Marian advocations for various Christian and foreigners.

Its history begins when three pastor children appear six times – Lucía, Jacinta and Francisco – as well as other people, in the Cova da Iria, Fatima, Portugal. The devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima originated from the revelations of the Mother of God to the three little shepherds:

“I ask you to come to this place every day 13, at noon, for six months and I will tell you who I am”, Announced the Virgin of Fatima to the three children.

According to the Catholic site Ewtnthis first meeting occurred on May 13, 1917, which is why this invocation is celebrated on that date.

That day, numerous people gathered to witness the appearance of the Mother of God, even some skeptics. It was noon and nothing happened. People were soaked by intense rain.

Given this, many wanted to leave. Suddenly, Lucia asked them to keep their umbrellas, since I had seen the glow of the Virgin. It was then that the Virgin of Fatima appeared, announced that she was Mrs. del Rosario and asked the faithful to repent of their mistakes.

It was not his only request. He also requested that he built a temple in that place. In addition, the end of World War I announced. Currently the construction remains with the name of the Sanctuary of Fatima, located in the center of Portugal.
