Rubio Yovani Méndez Rubín is one of the many players that make up the current Guatemalan team with a past in the United States and who have embraced their roots to wear the Bicolor colors.
Rubín put on the national shirt for the first time in a match against French Guiana corresponding to the Concacaf Nations League B in 2022.
He was one of the profiles that Luis Fernando Tena worked on at the beginning of his project and so far having him in the group has paid off.
In 35 appearances with the Guatemalan National Team he has scored 13 goals, several of them key to giving Guatemala a victory or necessary points.
With the Guatemalan National Team
His first two goals were against the Dominican Republic, which qualified for League A of the Nations League, but he has also scored in World Cup qualifiers and the Gold Cup.
At 29 years old, Rubín could already be considered one of the oldest men on the current Bicolor roster, since he has played for several teams such as Tijuana, Dorados de Sinaloa, Real Salt Lake and currently Charleston Bettery of the USL.
