Aurora FC could not take advantage of its home status and fell 0-2 against Antigua GFC at the Guillermo Slowing Stadium on matchday 18 of the 2026 Clausura Tournament. The Patas Amarillas took the three points despite playing with ten players from the 40th minute, when Edgard Camargo received the direct red card for a strong tackle from behind, in what was a victory of enormous value for the colonials.
The match started with Antigua taking control from the first minutes and keeping Aurora locked in their own half for much of the first half. However, the locals grew as time went by and in the 44th minute they were close to taking the lead when Jorge Ticurú’s shot hit the crossbar. The first half ended goalless despite the visitors’ dominance and the great golden opportunity.
In the complement, Antigua continued to insist and the changes bore fruit. In the 74th minute, Kevin Macareño took advantage of a mistake by Daniel Baján to connect with a cross from Castañeda and open the scoring in his 57th appearance with the club, scoring his 15th goal. The second goal came in the 89th minute when Castañeda entered from the left and crossed to seal the final 0-2.

With this victory, Antigua GFC rises to provisional fifth place in Clausura 2026 with 27 points, just one point behind the leaders. The colonials are still on a roll after the 8-2 win against Mictlán the previous day and are emerging as one of the most in-form teams in the tournament in the final stretch of the contest.
Aurora FC, on the other hand, remains in tenth position with 19 points, now five units away from the qualifying zone. The defeat seriously complicates the aspirations of the aurinegro team in the Clausura 2026 and forces the team to win in the next matches if they want to remain with options to advance to the next phase.
The result also has implications in the accumulated table, where Aurora remains in a comfortable position with 58 points, while Antigua GFC continues to climb positions with 66 points, consolidating itself as one of the most solid teams in Guatemalan soccer so far this season.
