A participant in the traditional Judas Bullfight that took place in Zunil, Quetzaltenango, reportedly suffered a spectacular accident after falling on the side of a ravine last Thursday, April 2.
The moment, which was captured on video, shows how a group of people were waiting to continue the celebration on the edge of a bridge, when one of the young people jumps towards the slope, where he loses his balance.
In the recording, made by neighbors, you can see how the young man loses his balance, rolls down the cliff and falls into the side area of the ravine, about 20 meters high, as detailed by the Cantel Volunteer Firefighters, who responded to the emergency.
The incident caused panic among spectators and quickly spread on social networks. The Cantel Volunteer Firefighters traveled to the scene, provided first aid and took the injured person to a care center.
According to lifeguards, the person had suffered damage to the skull, which required hospital check-up. So far no further details have been provided about his health status.
Local media highlight that relief bodies asked participants to avoid exposing themselves to risks in places such as cliffs or ravines. Likewise, it is known that this activity is celebrated within the framework of Holy Week in said municipality.
