Carlos Ballarta has built a community of fans, who constantly spread the content he publishes on platforms.
Ballarta is dedicated to stand-up comedy and since 2012 he has been characterized by integrating acidic, irreverent and unfiltered humor into his shows.
The Mexican comedian remains active on social networks and strongly interacts with his followers. In addition, he is known because he has turned insults about his appearance and origin into part of his identity and humor in his jokes, pranks and themes.
Its content on Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music and other platforms has reached millions of views and has been positioned at the top of playlists in several regions of Latin America and the US.
Ballarta currently promotes Naco Ladino, his recent bet stand-up comedy that addresses culture and identity in Latin America, stereotypes and a dose of personal themes.
That show will be presented in Guatemala and Ballarta shared details of his career, preparation and curiosities during a recent interview with Free press.
“I really like to inform myself about what is happening, especially on topics that catch my attention. I investigate, confirm and then share my opinion, my analysis, but it is an observation with touches of humor. I really like that dynamic because I think it is a crucial part for the stand-up comedyat least as they taught me and that’s why I try to do it as often as I can,” said Ballarta from Mexico City.
Naco Ladino: more than just a show
According to Ballarta, this show emerged as a tool of self-defense with humor, because for a long time he has been singled out and even hated for his way of speaking, his appearance and because they link him as a person with a popular class origin.
“In my country they use Naco to insult you, to put you down and to stereotype lower class people and Ladino is someone who knows how to navigate the world with mischief, someone with cunning, spark and very intelligent. That’s how his name came about. showwhich includes epic moments,” said the Mexican comedian.
Regarding the theme of the show, Ballarta explained the difficulty that he constantly faces and that goes far beyond his preparation. “What happens with the stand-up comedy, is that, once you write a show and you publish it on some platform (YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, etc.), you have to change, you have to rewrite new material again, new jokes and integrate new features because then it is not repetitive,” he said.
Ballarta explained that Naco Ladino It is a 1.30 hour show, but the time always depends on the connection with the audience. “I have the material ready for an hour, and, depending on how I see people, I add bits of jokes and so on.” show It extends to one hour and thirty minutes. However, if I see that the audience is cool (great, pleasant), I add other intonations in the endings to attract attention, or suddenly, if there is some improvisation there with the people, but not more than 10 minutes so as not to tire them,” he explained.
The return to his native Guatemala
With Naco Ladinothe Mexican comedian will tour Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama in April. Starting in May it will arrive in the US and several cities in your country.
Ballarta appeared in Guatemala, but was convinced of the quality of its residents and the energy with which it has connected with its local admirers, which is why he remembers the country with affection and admiration.
“My dream is to visit all the capitals of Latin America, that’s why I’m excited to return to my native city of Guatemala. There to my land where I have a great time and where the food is very tasty.
