An inter-institutional operation at the Preventive Center for Men and Women of Chimaltenango allowed the seizure of drugs, cash and various prohibited objects, reported the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Guatemalan Army.

According to the authorities, the action, in support of the Penitentiary System, allowed the seizure of 18 “fangs” with cocaine, Q600, 120 packs of cigarettes, 60 sharp objects, a box of razor blades and a cell phone.

In addition, six televisions, 33 sound devices, 10 electric extension cords, two video game controls, three DVD players, two watches, three bottles of alcohol, 100 lighters, two tattoo needles and three pipes for possible drugs were located.

For its part, the Guatemalan Army reported that the operation was carried out in coordination with civil security forces; In addition, he pointed out that part of what was seized was hidden in a cove.

The authorities did not report any arrests resulting from the operation.

The Army indicated that these actions are part of the permanent controls in detention centers, with the objective of maintaining order and preventing the entry of illegal acts.
