Armed attack in Cipresales leaves two dead and two women injured

This Tuesday, April 21, unknown persons shot four people in the Cipresales neighborhood, zone 6 of the capital, leaving two dead and two injured, the Volunteer Firefighters reported.

According to the lifeguards, the armed attack occurred on 6 Avenue B and 16 Street, Cipresales neighborhood, zone 6.

Elements of the Volunteer Firefighters stabilized and transferred two women with gunshot wounds to the San Juan de Dios General Hospital, while two people were left dead at the scene of the attack.

The incident occurred in the same area where last Monday two men attacked diners at a cevicheria with bullets, in an incident that left six dead—two women and four men—and two injured, including a 5-year-old child.

The circumstances of that armed attack are under investigation.

Murders with firearms increased 3.8% in Guatemala during 2025, compared to 2024, according to official calculations.

According to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), last year there were 3,020 murders involving firearms, while in 2024 there were 2,910 homicides of this type.
