The hearing to request the opening of a trial in the “Los Calavera” case was suspended this Monday, April 27, and rescheduled for next Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

The intermediate stage was planned in the High Risk Criminal Court of First Instance, where the conclusive acts of the Public Ministry (MP) would be known.

Also included was the formal accusation and the request to open a trial against the accused.

The hearing was suspended due to the non-appearance of the lawyer of one of the accused.

According to the MP, those accused face charges of murder, illicit association, extortion and conspiracy to commit murder.

In addition, authorities accuse them of active bribery and violation of sexual privacy, to the detriment of the general manager of a private hospital and a cardiologist.

According to the MP investigation, the crime against Francisco Alberto Galindo Chacón and Mario Fernando Meza Batres, general manager and doctor of a private hospital in zone 10 of the capital, respectively, he would have been executed by the criminal structure of hitmen called “Los Calavera.”

The MP has detailed that during the covid-19 pandemic the hospital’s board of directors hired the minibus service to transport its staff. “When it was determined that the service was no longer necessary, the decision was made to kill them to maintain the contract. This service was quite onerous, which is why the criminal organization did not want to stop receiving that money,” according to the investigation.
