Guatemala continues with high temperatures and, according to the Insivumeh forecast, rain could be recorded for this Thursday, May 7.
Forecaster Cleofás Culajay explained that there is a trough at altitude, which could cause atmospheric instability and, added to the entry of humidity from both coastlines, increases the possibility of rain.
The rain forecasts are for the bocacosta, western, central highlands and eastern valleys regions.
The thermometer is expected to read between 36°C and 38°C in the northern, Caribbean, eastern valleys, Pacific and coastal regions.
In the central highlands temperatures could reach between 27°C and 29°C; in the west, between 24°C and 26°C.
In a press conference on May 5, the director of Insivumeh, Edwin Rojas, indicated that Guatemala is already in the rainy season, but there will be a rainfall deficit in some regions.
According to projections, the heat wave would be from mid-June to early July, with a tendency to last longer and with rainfall below normal. These conditions are associated with the possible transition towards the El Niño phenomenon, with a probability of 88%.
