According to information from the National Civil Police (PNC), an arsenal was seized in an operation carried out this Thursday, May 7.
The weapons were found in a container at the Port of Santo Tomás de Castilla, Puerto Barrios, Izabal.
Investigators counted 28 firearms: 26 rifles and two short weapons.
According to the PNC, on March 13, in that same place, the seizure of a carbine, two rifles, five short weapons, 15 magazines and 807 ammunition of different calibers, coming from the United States and destined for Honduras, was reported, so the respective investigation was coordinated with prosecutors.
The PNC stated that investigations continue to establish the origin of the weapons and determine if they would be linked to criminal structures operating in the country.
