The Antigua GFC team, led by Argentine Mauricio Tapia, gave meet this Thursday his first reinforcement for the 2026 Apertura Tournamentwith which the restructuring of its squad began for the next season, in which it will face the national championship and international commitments.
The colonial team closed its participation in the Clausura 2026 after being eliminated in the quarterfinals against Comunicaciones, a result that put an end to their aspirations to reach the three-time championship.
After that outcome, the board began moves in the squad, with the departures of Ezo Hernández Fernandes, Juan Osorio and Estuardo Sicán, with the aim of renewing the group and strengthening each line of the team.
In this context, Antigua GFC reached an agreement with Guatemalan striker Willian Jehú Fajardo, who joins as a new offensive element of the green belly team.
Fajardo arrives from Atlético Mictlán, a club that lost the category, backed by having been the national scorer of the 2026 Clausura Tournament, with 11 scoreswhich consolidated him as one of the most effective attackers in the championship.
The club made the player’s arrival official through its social networks, where it expressed: “Antigua GFC informs the incorporation of the player Jehú Fajardo to the first team.”
At 25 years old, Jehú Fajardo has experience in several National League teams, which gives him experience and knowledge of the local environment. Throughout his career he has defended the colors of:
- Deportivo Mictlán
- Achuapa
- Guastatoya
- Communications
- Heal yourself
Now, the attacker will seek to transfer his scoring quota to Antigua GFC and become a key piece in Mauricio Tapia’s scheme, with the aim of fighting again for the Guatemalan soccer title and standing out on the international stage.
