The entry into operation of this substation, which will be operated by Redes Eléctricas de Centroamérica (RECSA), is the result of a comprehensive planning process that seeks to anticipate electrical demand and offer a more stable, reliable and secure service for the communities.

This work represents an approximate investment of Q28.6 million, which directly benefits more than 30 thousand homes, businesses and productive activities. The impact of the project reaches the municipalities of Suchitepéquez and communities on the Sololá coast, regions with high agricultural, commercial and service activity.

Strengthening the electrical network makes it possible to meet current and future demand, provides greater stability to supply and generates more favorable conditions for entrepreneurship, investment and local development.

“This project reflects our commitment to responsible planning that translates into real benefits for the communities and the development of the country. At ENERGUATE we bring energy to where the last line of the electrical grid reaches, because our commitment is to be present throughout the territory,” said Paulo César Parra, general manager of ENERGUATE.

The inauguration of the Chocolá Substation was attended by community leaders, ENERGUATE and RECSA authorities, the mayor of San Pablo Jocopilas, the departmental governor of Suchitepéquez and representatives of the electricity sector.

The presence of these actors reflected the importance of coordination between the energy sector, local authorities and communities to promote infrastructure works that generate positive and sustained impact on the territory.

During the event, the value of planning, responsible investment and working together were highlighted as pillars to bring essential services to more people and improve their quality of life.

With the start-up of the Chocolá Substation, ENERGUATE and RECSA consolidate a long-term vision aimed at strengthening the national electrical grid, bringing energy closer to communities and accompanying regional growth processes.

Previous works

As part of the project, ENERGUATE developed fundamental support works to guarantee the proper functioning of the substation. Among them, the construction of two new electrical circuits, called San Pablo Jocopilas and Santo Tomás La Unión, as well as seven kilometers of new lines, which allow better organization of the flow of energy.

These works made it possible to segment and balance electrical distribution, reducing dependence on longer routes and strengthening the local network. Thanks to this, the Chocolá Substation receives energy more efficiently and closely, which translates into a direct improvement in the quality of service.

The project represents a basis for social and economic development, by guaranteeing an electrical service that supports productive, educational and commercial activities in the region.
