PMT reports an increase in traffic since this Friday and explains which roads will be most impacted

Amílcar Montejo, road spokesperson for the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT), detailed this Friday, May 8, in an interview with Free Press Radio How will the traffic be in the capital for the celebration of Mother’s Day.

He indicated that this celebration generates high demand in parks, movie theaters, restaurants, florists and chocolate shops, as well as in some areas of hospitals and cemeteries.

He added that Mother’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, May 10; However, the activities began this Friday the 8th, which already reflects variations in the city’s traffic.

He indicated that some educational centers did not have academic activities, although they did organize events in honor of mothers, which is reflected in the increase in vehicular mobility.

Montejo highlighted that traffic increased on the Atlantic, Inter-American and Pacific routes. He added that road accidents also increased this Friday.

He said that the increase in vehicles in circulation will also extend to Saturday and Sunday, mainly in zones 1, 9, 10, 13, 14 and 16, in restaurant and recreation areas.

Traffic could also be more affected this weekend on the Roosevelt road towards San Lucas Sacatepéquez, the Aguilar Batres road and Martí street.

Montejo reported that starting this Friday they will activate alcohol testing and speed control operations. Additionally, rain could cause slow traffic.
