The AeroMetro in Guatemala will operate as an urban cable car for public transportation with continuous movement, designed to speed up the transfer of passengers and strengthen urban mobility.
It has been reported that the project includes two lines and 12 stations. The cabins will circulate at an approximate speed of 6.5 meters per second between stations, but when entering the platform they will decelerate up to 0.25 meters per second, according to the promoters of the project.
In videos shared by the commune, the arrival of the cabins to Guatemala in containers is observed. With the last delivery, there would be 114 cabins that are already in the country.
The doors move with a practical mechanism and the seats consist of two stainless steel benches, according to a shared video.
According to the video explanation, The benches can be accommodated to carry a bicycle and even a stretcher in the cabin. According to the information, these cabins are larger than those on display.
The AeroMetro will connect Plaza España, in zone 9, with Molino de las Flores, in Mixco, along almost nine kilometers and 12 stations, with an estimated fare value of Q10 per trip.
The project includes more than 500 cabins, each with space for 12 passengers, who will pass through the stations every few seconds.
