Netflix confirms the expansion of the universe of “La casa de papel”

“Some stories start with a perfect hit. And this one changed everything,” says part of the description that accompanies the announcement of the expansion of the “Money Heist” franchise.

It was through its social networks that Netflix confirmed that the universe of “La casa de papel” continues. The platform showed the gold stolen in the last seasons of the Spanish version and highlighted that the revolution continues.

Through a trailer, Netflix broke the news and highlighted that, from “the first robbery for money to the most artistic robbery of the century, through the robbery that put tons of gold from the Bank of Spain at stake, the universe of “La casa de papel” has not stopped growing, evolving and surprising.”

With five parts of the Spanish version, one season of “Money Heist: Korea” and two prequels to Berlin, one of the characters most loved by the public, Netflix highlighted that something has become clear: “that the revolution never ends.”

The series could pick up at the end of the fifth part, when the gold leaves Spain and the “La casa de papel” gang, led by Sergio Marquina, known as “The Professor”, makes a deal with the Army to avoid a crisis in the country, in exchange for obtaining their freedom.

The trailer presented by Netflix reveals the gold that the band took out of the Bank of Spain, which could bring this franchise back. Meanwhile, Pedro Alonso, known for his role as Berlin, said goodbye to the franchise on May 9 with the announcement of the world premiere of the production “Berlin: The Lady with an Ermine,” which will premiere on Netflix on May 15.

It was at a massive event organized by Netflix on a floating platform on the Guadalquivir River, in Seville, where Pedro Alonso and his team thanked the public for accompanying them during these two seasons. Besides, the Spanish artist Rosalía performed two of his biggest hits.

Although Netflix has not given details about when the new production of “La casa de papel” could be launched, the platform announced that it is already working on its next installment.

At the event, the continuation of the franchise was confirmed when a boat full of characters dressed in red and wearing Dalí masks appeared in the middle of the Guadalquivir River. There, Álvaro Morte made his appearance to the rhythm of “Bella Ciao” to confirm the return of the series.

What “Berlin: The Lady with an Ermine” is about

“One of the biggest coups in history is about to begin,” advances Netflix’s premise about the new installment inspired by “La casa de papel.”

The story begins when Berlin receives a commission from the Duke of Malaga: to steal the iconic painting “The Lady with an Ermine” by Leonardo da Vinci. This leads the character to reunite his gang to carry out the robbery.

However, according to Netflix Tudum, the real objective will not be the work of art, but to get revenge on the duke. To achieve this, Berlin and Damián will pretend to plan the theft of the painting while they prepare the real heist.

The city of Seville will be one of the main settings for the production. There, the duke will try to blackmail Berlin, without imagining that this will awaken the darkest side of the character.
