The footballers and referees will wear the message on their shirts “Unite for Peace” during the group stage of the next World Cup, in which FIFA will promote various social campaigns focused on unity, peaceeducation, physical activity and the fight against racism.
The organization announced this Monday that its initiatives “Football unites the world”, “United for peace”, “United for education” and “Be Active” will reinforce the global message of the tournament. These campaigns will be present on the giant screens and LED panels in the 16 stadiums, as well as in digital content and information materials available on the internet.
“The social campaigns of the FIFA will showcase the World Cup as a space to celebrate unity, diversity and shared passion. “Through these initiatives we want to take advantage of football’s unique ability to build bridges and transmit messages of peace, education, the fight against racism and the promotion of healthy lifestyles,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The leader also invited the world football community to join these causes, which “go beyond football and the World Cup itself”, one month before the start of the tournament, which will be held in June 11 to July 19 in Mexico, the United States and Canada, for the first time with 48 teams.
FIFA recalled that “Football unites the world” is its main social campaign, presented during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and that this edition will feature the participation of several players who will compete in the tournament. This initiative reinforces two central messages: “United for peace” and “United for education.”
The first promotes actions in favor of peace and will be reflected in the clothing of players and referees of the 48 teams, who will wear the “Unite for Peace” badge on their sleeve. In addition, it will give visibility to projects such as the FIFA Foundation Refugee Program, developed in conjunction with UNHCR.
For its part, “United for education” will be present on the t-shirts during the round of 16, quarterfinals and semifinals. Added to this is the campaign “Say no to racism”, which reaffirms FIFA’s zero tolerance policy against any discriminatory act, inside and outside of football.
The motto of this edition, “Listen, raise your voice and act”, will be present in the 104 matches of the tournament.
Within the “Be Active” campaign, which promotes physical activity especially among children and young people, the official mascots—Maple, Zayu and Clutch—will invite fans to participate in different activities.
In addition, from May 21 to 25, World Football Week will be celebrated, an initiative that seeks to involve fans in sporting events and dynamics around the world.
