Estuardo Chang lives an unexpected but special moment with Xelajú MC. The team’s third goalkeeper took over after injuries to Rubén Darío Silva and Nery Lobos and responded with outstanding performances in the league. “The truth is, I feel very happy. These last few days have been a lot of joy for me. Thank God I am given this opportunity to be here. I never imagined it this season,” said the goalkeeper.
Chang highlighted the support received from the coaching staff, his teammates and his family during the most important games of his career. “I believe that I had all the support of the group, the coaching staff and the players. I thank them very much for all the support they had towards me. My family has always taught me to be humble to achieve success,” he pointed out. The goalkeeper also revealed that he decided to stay away from social networks to stay calm and focused on the sporting aspect. “I know we haven’t won anything. It’s a big step for my career,” he added.
Looking ahead to the first leg of the final against Municipal this Saturday, May 16 at El Trébol, Chang assured that he will have to maintain concentration throughout the match if he receives the opportunity to play. “If God gives me the opportunity to play in that final, I must be calm, focused and concentrated on the game. “I’m going to be prepared.”he stated. Chang has just been chosen as player of the match in the second leg semi-final against Comunicaciones, played at the Mario Camposeco stadium.
Estuardo Chang assured that being a goalkeeper was always his passion, despite it being one of the most demanding positions in soccer. “Since I was little I have liked goalkeeping. It is a complicated position, but it is also very nice. When you take on the challenge of being a goalkeeper it is something nice,” expressed the Xelajú MC goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper of the Quetzaltecan team also spoke about the pressure that comes with defending the goal and the responsibility of avoiding mistakes in decisive moments. “The goalkeeper is always alone, he always has his ideas and cannot make mistakes, much less in these instances,” said Chang, who is going through the best moment of his career in the middle of the 2026 Clausura final.
Chang acknowledged that he never imagined living an experience like the current one with Xelajú MC and assured that he enjoys every moment before the title series against Municipal. “I honestly didn’t imagine it, it feels very nice, it’s a dream I’m living.”concluded the goalkeeper, who is expected to start the first leg of the final this Saturday at El Trébol.
