The construction of AeroMetro system has gone from civil works to electromechanical phaseproject managers reported.
The work is currently concentrated on 12th street in zone 9, where teams of specialists have begun the installation of the components that will allow the movement of the units.
This stage follows the civil works of foundations and erection of columns, now focusing efforts on the integration of the machinery that will make the system operational. The technical phase of the project consists of the installation of electric motors, traction pulleys and hydraulic tension systems, it was reported
A total of 135 cabins are already in the country awaiting the completion of the cable laying and running tests.
The operation of the AeroMetro is based on a cable traction system powered by high-power electric motors. These motors activate a series of drive pulleys, responsible for transmitting movement to the tractor cable.
According to the technical design, the system incorporates two critical control mechanisms:
- Hydraulic tensioners: Devices that maintain constant cable tension to compensate for load variations.
- Guide rockers: Sets of smaller pulleys installed on the steel towers that ensure the fluid transit of the cabins at the support points.
Security and contingency protocols
Regarding service continuity, the project integrates emergency motors independent of the main electrical supply.
These motors are designed to come into operation automatically in the event of a power failure, allowing the transfer of the cabins to the nearest disembarkation station. This redundancy protocol is a standard in high-capacity cable transport systems.
In parallel with the work on public roads, the authorities confirmed the receipt of 135 cabins that make up the system’s operational fleet. The units are currently in storage warehouses, ready to be assembled to the main cable.
