Dani Carvajal will not continue at Real Madrid next season and will put an end to a historic period at the white club after more than a decade, 27 titles and 451 games played.

Real Madrid officially confirmed the departure of its captain through a statement in which it thanked him for his career and described him as “one of the great legends” of the institution.

“Real Madrid and our captain Dani Carvajal have agreed to put an end to a wonderful period as a club player at the end of this season,” reported the Madrid entity.

The 33-year-old right-back will play his last game this Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, where the club is preparing a special tribute to say goodbye to one of the most successful footballers in its recent history.

Carvajal debuted with the first team on August 18, 2013 and since then he became a key part of one of Real Madrid’s most winning periods.

During his career with the white team he won six Champions League titles, six Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four Spanish Leagues, two Copas del Rey and four Spanish Super Cups.

With his six Champions League titles, Carvajal is part of a select group of footballers who reached that number, along with Francisco Gento, Luka Modrić, Nacho Fernández and Toni Kroos.

In addition to his titles, the Spanish defender leaves outstanding numbers with 307 victories and 14 goals scored, including one of the most memorable of his career: the one he scored in the final of Real Madrid’s fifteenth Champions League, played in London, where he was also chosen best player of the match.

In total, Carvajal played 302 League games, 96 in the Champions League, 26 in the Copa del Rey and several more in international competitions and super cups.

Atlético de Madrid was the rival he faced the most times throughout his career, with 34 games played against the red and white team.

With his departure, Real Madrid loses one of the most important references in its dressing room and one of the most emblematic players of the club’s last golden era.
