Police chase ends in a shootout on Bolívar; One alleged hitman dies and another is captured

A police chase resulting from an armed attack that occurred in the Cuatro de Febrero neighborhood, zone 7 of the capital, ended this Monday, May 18, in a shootout between agents of the National Civil Police (PNC) and alleged hitmen on Bolívar Avenue, between zones 3 and 8 of the capital.

The PNC reported that the agents caught up with the suspects after a chase that began after the armed attack recorded at 23 “A” Street and 29 “C” Avenue in the Cuatro de Febrero neighborhood.

According to the Volunteer Firefighters, the attack left one man dead and another person wounded by a gunshot.

According to police information, the alleged perpetrators tried to escape on a motorcycle, but were intercepted on Bolívar Avenue, where they faced gunfire with the agents.

The PNC indicated that one of the alleged criminals died at the scene and another was captured. A motorcycle and a firearm were left at the scene.

Amílcar Montejo, director of Communication at Emetra, reported on his social networks that the authorities blocked both directions of Bolívar Avenue to carry out the corresponding procedures of the Public Ministry (MP).

Montejo added the vehicle closure will complicate traffic in the sector while the investigation proceedings are carried out.
