Video shows crash between motorcycle and vehicle in Palín

Moments of tension were recorded on video when a motorcyclist was ejected by the impact between a motorcycle and a car in the kilometer 38 from the route to Palin. The recording shows how the vehicle tried to change lanes and, seconds later, the motorcycle crashed into the rear.

The accident left two motorcyclists seriously injuredwho were taken to a health center with possible serious injuries. One of them presented possible skull traumawhile the occupants of the car suffered a nervous breakdown.

During the program Direct Impactof Guatevisionexperts and analysts addressed the case and pointed out that the accident shows the risks of last-minute lane changes and driving without anticipating road conditions.

“That movement is irresponsible”

One of the analysts questioned the maneuver observed in the video and stated: “These last minute movements, the ‘I passed and I want to return’, are irresponsible”.

It was also indicated that the overconfidence when driving can reduce the pilot’s attention. According to the analysis, some people drive automatically because they know the route, but that does not eliminate the risk.

“We trust each other, or we say: I already know the way.”it was said during the program, warning that this behavior can become an excuse to neglect driving.

Another expert stressed that driving requires responsibility because a vehicle can cause serious damage.

“When we are driving a vehicle we are carrying a potential weapon that can harm and take the life of another person”he stated.

The analyst described it as reckless to try to cross two lanes in a short stretch without foresight. He also recommended that if a driver misses the exit, the safest thing to do is to continue and look for a turnaround. “Go turn around, it is the most prudent and safest thing for you and the people around you”he pointed out.

During the analysis it was also mentioned the behavior of motorists. Experts indicated that, on highways, drivers must plan for entering, exiting, and changing lanes.

One of the participants explained that the motorist was traveling in the slow lane, but at high speed, while the car slowed down to try to merge towards the exit.
