The life of Jesus, portrayed in the Bible, has inspired film productions and even series. In the midst of the success of The Chosendirector Mel Gibson announced the sequel to the hit film The Passion of Christwhich will come to the cinema in two parts.
The sequel, called The resurrection of Christled Mel Gibson to embark on an intense filming that spanned 134 days and took place in cities in Italy, such as Rome, Bari, Craco and Ginosa. Although a release date had been announced months ago, it changed.
The two films, which seek to continue the success of The Passion of Christreleased in 2004, will arrive a year apart. The news was shared by Varietya medium that reported that filming was completed and that, for Gibson, the story turned out “exactly as he had imagined it.”

Gibson has kept details of the filming confidential, but media outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter they highlight that The resurrection of Christ could present a story of struggle between good and evil.
The actors Jaakko Ohtonen and Mariela Garriga They will be in charge of playing Jesus and Mary Magdalene, respectively, and will succeed Jim Caviezel and Monica Bellucci, who brought these characters to success in the 2004 installment.

Other actors joining these sequels are Pier Luigi Pasino, Kasia Smutniak, Riccardo Scamarcio and Rupert Everett, who could play the disciples of Jesus.
Before filming this sequel, director Mel Gibson highlighted that the plot is an “amazing journey” and assured that the story surprised him, since he had never read anything like it. Likewise, he indicated that the project is a personal mission, since he has worked on it for more than two decades.
