Álvaro Arbeloa confirmed this Friday that he will not continue as coach of Real Madrid next season and will close his time at the club after the last league match against Athletic Club. The Spanish coach said goodbye in Valdebebas with a message of gratitude to the club, the players and Florentino Pérez.
The Salamanca coach assured that he leaves satisfied with the work done in recent months, especially for having assumed the position in a complicated context within the locker room. Arbeloa acknowledged that there were difficult moments, although he said he was proud of the way he managed to deal with the situation.
During his appearance he also ruled out any possibility of joining a possible coaching staff of José Mourinho or the coach who comes to Real Madrid. Arbeloa pointed out that from now on he will look for new professional challenges and said he feels prepared to continue growing as a coach after his experience in the first team.
The conference also left an emotional moment when Arbeloa spoke about Dani Carvajal, whom he defined as “a symbol” of Real Madrid fans. The coach asked the fans to stand up when the defender is substituted in his last game, in recognition of his career and commitment to the club.
