Guatemala once again stood out in international sports thanks to Soledad Aguilar, who won the gold medal in the Musical Weapons test during the Turkish Open, an event corresponding to the Kickboxing World Cup. Her performance led her to reach first place in the world ranking in her category recently.
Aguilar’s rise to world leadership represents one of the greatest achievements of Guatemalan kickboxing in recent years. The athlete has maintained a high competitive level in different international events and now establishes herself as the main reference in her discipline.
The outstanding national participation in Türkiye was not limited to Aguilar. José Jorge Santiago also shone in the competition by placing third in the world ranking in the men’s -74 kilogram Point Fighting category, confirming the growth of Guatemala in this sport.
Both athletes are part of the National Kickboxing Team, which continues to achieve positive results on the international stage. Their performances reflect the work done by athletes, coaches and leaders to strengthen this discipline in the country.
