Real Madrid officially announced this Thursday the signing for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029, of the Portuguese coach José Mourinho as coach of the first football team to replace Álvaro Arbeloa, and he will join the club on July 13.

“The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF, meeting today, Thursday, June 11 and chaired by Florentino Pérez, has agreed to appoint José Mourinho as first team coach for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029,” the club says on its website.

José Mourinho will join Real Madrid on July 13, the day the preseason will begin, he adds.

Mourinho, 63 years old and replacing Álvaro Arbeloa, returns in this way to Real Madrid, whom he already coached for three seasons between 2010-2011 and 2012-2013.

The first great electoral promise of Florentino Pérez in Sunday’s elections, in which he surpassed Enrique Riquelme, returns to the management of the Madrid team with the mission of returning the team to the right course after two years of disappointments.

To hire Mourinho, Real Madrid must pay Benfica the 15 million euros termination clause for his signing, something that the Lisbon club has already confirmed.

José Mourinho has intense work ahead of him both in terms of making the squad and preseason planning and closing friendlies.

The signing was already announced this Tuesday by Benfica by announcing to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission of Real Madrid’s intention to pay the 15 million of Mourinho’s termination clause with the Lisbon club, which also reported the hiring of a replacement: Marco Silva.
