The Portuguese national team landed this Friday with Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva at the head in Palm Beach (Florida), headquarters of their concentration in the United States during the group stage of the World Cup, where the official residence of the American president, Donald Trump, is located.
The Portuguese expedition made landfall at Palm Beach International Airportand boarded a bus that took them to the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, the hotel where the players will stay at least during the first phase.
The five-star resort is located facing the Atlantic Ocean, on a private stretch of beach, and offers ample “privacy,” according to its website. It is also located in the heart of Palm Beach, an island that concentrates one of the highest densities of wealth on the planet.
Among the many millionaires that the island hosts is Trump himself, who has his official residence in Mar-a-Lago, a monumental and historic mansion with 126 rooms converted into an ultra-exclusive private club, separated by just six kilometers from the Portugal hotel.
The Portuguese team will train a little further inland, in facilities located in the also elite town of Palm Beach Gardens, which have already been customized to receive the players.
The first training session on American soil will take place this Saturday, June 13four days before Portugal’s World Cup debut against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Houston (Texas).
The squad captained by Cristiano Ronaldo was placed in group K, along with Colombia and Uzbekistanin addition to the African set.
Houston will also host their second match of the first phase, in which they will meet Uzbekistan, while the last match will face Colombia in Miami, a few kilometers from their venue.
Portugal is one of the last teams left to travel to North America for the World Cup dispute, which began yesterday in Mexico.
