The Electrical Company of Guatemala, SA (EEGSA) reported that this weekend there will be power outages in seven sectors due to maintenance work on the distribution network, with suspensions that in some points could extend up to 13 hours.
The cuts coincide with a weekend in which the Insivumeh rainy conditions are expected in the countryassociated with low pressure systems and the passage or approach of waves from the east. In addition, the EEGSA activated an alert condition for the low pressure system in which the tropical storm occurred. Christinabecause rains can cause branches, trees or objects to fall on the electrical infrastructure.
The company indicated that it reinforced its operation with technical personnel, specialized crews, mobile units and constant monitoring of the electrical network to respond to emergencies in the shortest time possible.

- Of 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.in the zone 1 of Villa Nuevaneighboring areas and surroundings from 0 to 2a. avenue and 2nd. at the 6th. street; includes Xela 2 colony.
- Of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.in zone 8 of Mixconeighboring areas and surroundings of the 3rd. to the 4th. avenue and 8th. at the 9th. street; includes Balcones of San Cristóbal.
- Of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.in zone 19 of Guatemala Cityneighboring areas and surroundings of the 8th. at the 10th. streets and 8th. at the 13th. avenues, La Florida neighborhood.
- Of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.in zone 4 of Mixconeighboring areas and surroundings of the 9th. at the 10th. streets and from 0 to 3a. avenues, Monserrat neighborhoods 1 and 2.

- Of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.in the zone 15 of Guatemala Cityneighboring areas and surroundings of 22nd to 24th avenues and 0th to 1st avenues. street, in the Vista Hermosa II neighborhood.
- Of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.in Sumpango, Sacatepequezneighboring areas and surroundings of kilometer 46 to 48 of the Inter-American highway.
- Of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.in the zone 10 of Santa Catarina Pinulaneighboring areas and surroundings of the Central sector 3, El Carmen village; includes Río El Carmen neighborhood.
Recommendations for power outages
Given the scheduled suspensions and the rain forecast for the weekendit is recommended charge cell phones, external batteries and rechargeable lampsin addition to disconnecting sensitive appliances to avoid damage when service is restored. It is also advisable to have flashlights, drinking water and have emergency numbers on hand.
To prevent food loss, it is recommended to keep the refrigerator and freezer closed during the power outage. Likewise, those who depend on electrical equipment or medications that require refrigeration should take precautions in advance.
